Secretary of State Shenna Bellows Condemns Supreme Court’s Decision to Destroy the Voting Rights Act

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling today in Louisiana v. Callais:

“Today’s decision is just another example of how the Supreme Court has abandoned its principles in favor of partisan politics. Democracy has been tossed in the trash in favor of a political agenda to concentrate more power and greed in the hands of those who want to turn back the clock on progress in our nation. We cannot stand idly by and Secretaries like myself will do everything in our power to make sure that every American continues to have access to the right to vote”.
