Secretary of State Shenna Bellows Launches a New Deal for Maine Schools and Childcare

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows today announced a series of bold plans for education and childcare, part of her New Deal for Maine.  A New Deal for Maine Schools and Childcare is available here. 

“My story is deeply rooted in Maine. In no other place, could someone with a story like mine be running for governor. Given the challenges of our state, it seems harder and harder to envision a world where my story is possible. When kids go to school in crumbling buildings, parents delay having children because they can’t find childcare and teachers are paid so little that they have to use a food pantry to get by, our state is failing to serve the next generation.” said Shenna Bellows “That’s why we need A New Deal for Maine Schools and Childcare where every child has access to a quality public education, teachers don’t have to work two or three jobs to provide for their families, and every family has access to childcare they can afford.”
